I went away from social media a couple different times. And in that time I didn’t just stop existing and I didn’t stop designing, and I didn’t stop being glamorous (or at least trying). One of the glamorous things in my life that I always make time for is throwing over the top parties, mostly for toddlers, where I slave over tiny details that no one notices but me. Winning! So here is a big compilation of pictures, and brief descriptions, of some of the parties I have thrown in the past couple years.
“Vintage 1974” My Sister Andi’s 40th Birthday
My oldest sister turned 40 and we threw her a surprise party that was well worth being alive for 40 years. I did the decorations, and of course picked a theme. I wanted it to be cool and make turning 40 as awesome-sauce as possible. So I decided we would kick it old school with “Vintage” glam from the year she was born. Psychedelic!
Tylyn’s Great Emoti-con: The Emoji-nal day that my baby turned 3!
Obviously this was an Emoji Gymnastic Party. Doesn’t the invite just tie it all together so nicely? Tylyn is for sure my “emotional” daughter and I love her for it. She is sweet and loving and smart as a whipper-snapper. But she can be hott and then cold, yes and then no, in and then out… You get the idea.So I went with an emojo party, choosing the emoji faces that I most associate with her. The very best part were the emoji balloons and emoji poop cupcakes. ‘nough said.
Kenzi & Hezekiah’s “Little Man” Baby Shower:
My sister-in-law Kenzi had her first baby in April and we threw her a bangin baby shower for her little man! Per her request the colors were neon green and gray. Every aspect of the party tied into the little man theme right down to the leMANade and bow-tie pasta! My other sister-in-law and I tagged teamed the decorations, and made it a preeeetttty sweet shin-dig with our combined super powers!
Haddy’s London Calling, Haddington Bear Picnic in the Park:
Hadley is the girl with many nick names. Including Haddington, Haddy bear, Hads… So I decided to go with her nicknames for a party there. I have seen so many cute “Union Jack” themed parties and I immediately thought of doing a British themed party like a Paddington bear picnic. Change the name to Haddington bear and we have a reason to celebrate a 2 year old in Royal style! Because she has a June birthday, I’ve opted to have both of her parties at the park. Cuz it FREE!! We have a great park by our house, so we had it there. I learned last year that June 14th is kinda a HOTT time of year for park parties with the end of the school year, graduations, etc. So I decided to go with a Monday morning this time around to ensure that we would get the prime location under the wooden covered picnic area.
Some of the decor included Haddinton bear suitcase favor boxes, telephone booth favor boxes, teddy bear ear headbands that I made out of felt, lots of graphic printables and more! It was a ROYALLY good time!
Ice Cream Social / Send-off to Stanford / “California Here We Come”
My friend Whitney planned an awesome “going-away party” for my sister-in-law before she left for California to deliver her 3rd baby. Her second son passed away at 2 months old due to a genetic disorder, and was going to Stanford to deliver baby Valor (#3) in case he had the same condition. You can learn more about her story on her instagram @mycolonialremodel or on her blog http://www.houseworklife.com. But back to the party. As I said, it was planned by Whitney and decorated/ styled by me. The theme was an old school ice cream social with blue and white as the colors and vintage graphics. Plus all the candy and ice cream and coca cola you could want!
